Summary Functional analysis of functional RNAs
Major Features of Project Following projects are carried out.
1. Development of bioinformatics technologies to identify and analyze functional ncRNAs.
2. Development of supporting technologies and tools for functional ncRNA analysis.
3. Function analysis of ncRNAs.
Description of Project Excerpts from "Functional RNA Project Introduction Page" (JBIC) (http://www.jbic.or.jp/bio/english/activity/f_rna_pj/index_rn.html ):
Recent studies have revealed that higher organisms have many RNAs that do not encode proteins and that these non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) play important roles in development and differentiation processes as well as in disease processes. In vivo function of these ncRNAs will be investigated, and the results will be applied to diagnosis and treatment of various diseases and realization of regenerative medicine.
