Description | Trachoma is the leading infectious cause of blindness worldwide. Infections with serovars A, B, Ba, and C of Chlamydia trachomatis cause chronic keratoconjunctivitis in children with subsequent scarring and blindness in adults. Today, trachoma is largely found in poor, rural communities in low-income countries, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. |
